Week in Review

Another week we are at the end of August!  We had a fun week this week, not a lot of excitement, but enjoyable all the same!
Trigg and I started playing a new game...we turn off the lights in his room and get out a flashlight and see what we can find using the light...the door, the ceiling, Trigg's's a fun way to explore his room in a new way!
Trigg is very curious about where the light is coming from!
Trigg is officially on the move...he is army crawling everywhere.  One evening, we set him down to play while we were getting supper ready and he crawled his way into the kitchen!
Trigg loves watching cars go by...he especially likes motorcycles, loud trucks and buses!
We dropped his crib down one notch this week too...and it was a good thing we did because he has figured out how to sit up in his crib.  We have a video monitor and here he is during nap time...apparently Trigg forgot that is was nap time!
That sums up our week, we don't have much planned for Labor Day weekend, get more work done in the backyard and enjoy these last few days of summer...although most pools are closed, the Ashby splash park is open until Sept 16th!

Pool Party

Pool Party!  This past Sunday we got together with our friends for our annual pool party!
The gals were all smiles enjoying the water...
...and let the shenanigans begin!  Aaron photobombed the girls picture!
Heather and Kim enjoying the day!
Of course, the dudes had the usual jump, catch, splash, land on a mat, challenge...Jon in mid-catch
Derek in his approach...
...and the catch.
This picture has also become a tradition...well done guys!
Me in mid-catch...
Siskow challenge #372...running on water
Jon tries the challenge...
...and splash down!
Aaron tries again...
...good distance!
I take on the challenge...
...and down.
The classic 4 toss exchange...toss 1
Toss 2
Toss 3
and the completion with toss 4!
We completed the 4-toss challenge not once, not twice, but 3 times!
We had a ton of fun at the pool, it was a great day filled with great friends and lots of laughs!  Can't wait for next year!

10 Months

This month, Trigg turned 10 months old, so we got out his 10 month tie and snapped a few pictures of the dude!
He is all smiles for the camera!
...and our little sitter has figured out... to get from his rear... his tummy!
Not fully crawling, but he has the army crawl down!
He is looking more like a little boy and less like a little baby.
Our little dude likes standing on his own too!
It's hard to believe that it has been 10 months already...time to start planning for a birthday party!

Week in Review

Another week in the books!  Last Sunday we had the OC VL's over for dinner on their way out of town.  We had a great dinner and it was fun to see them and say good bye as they start their new adventure in Haiti!
Trigg is doing great and trying to cut more teeth.  We think the top 2 are trying to push their way through.  It doesn't seem to bother him during meal time!
After going to the state fair last week, we have been reviewing our barnyard, pig, rooster and cow!
It is starting to feel a little like fall, we had a few cool evenings and mornings this morning it was in the 50's...that's hoodie weather!
We are not sure if it is because his teeth or if he caught a little cold, but midway through the week Trigg had puffy eyes and a runny nose...but he was a champ and kept playing and scooting across the floor!  That's right, Trigg has figured out the army crawl!
We finished the week celebrating Heather's birthday!  We had a great day, went to the zoo, splash park, naps, full rack of ribs from Woody's Smoke Shack and Bauder's ice cream sandwich for dessert!
It was a great week, it went fast but filled with lots of fun!  How was your week?

Wild Adventure

Thursday was Heather's birthday!!!  As tradition with our family, we both take the day off of work to celebrate.  We headed to the Blank Park Zoo to check out the wildest adventure in Des Moines!
The pink flamingo's were still sleeping in the sun with their heads tucked under their wing.
Next stop was the otter's...they were busy playing in the water, Trigg enjoyed watching them roll and splash in the water!
We kept on "exploring" and came to the Australian Outback...this black swan was sitting right next to the path warming up in the early morning sun...
I tried my hand at playing a didgeridoo
We found this frog and stopped for a quick picture!
We headed into the petting zoo and found these young Zebu's
The next stop was at the lion's!  This big cat was sleeping in the sun.
Our next stop was to watch the monkey's!
The zoo keeper's were feeding the giraffes, so we paid our dollar and Trigg and Heather got to feed them too!
One big lettuce leaf...and out stretched a long black tongue...and down the hatch!
A close up of our new found friend!
We kept strolling through "Africa" and came across these long horns...Watusi!
Heather and Trigg give smiles as they watch the ostriches.
Trigg and I at the giraffe overlook.
We were able to catch the sea lion show as we were heading out.
We stopped for a group photo as we were leaving...despite his expression, Trigg did have a good time at the zoo...we skipped his morning nap to take it all in so we had a tired boy on our hands!
After we got home and got some lunch in our bodies...everyone perked up a little!  Heather and I were singing as we cleaned up the kitchen...
...and I think he liked our song!
Doreen brought over Bauder's ice cream sandwiches made with their peppermint ice cream...what a way to finish a great birthday celebration!
Happy Birthday Heather, I hope you had as much fun today as Trigg and I did!
