Week in Review

Another fun spring week for us!  Heather celebrated her first Mother's Day as a mom, Trigg got Heather a new t-shirt and some of her favorite scones from Chef Terrie!
With low temps in the 50's we have had the house open but it has been a little cool some mornings...
Good thing Trigg has some sweet puppy dog slippers, they keep his tootsies nice and warm!
Trigg has been sporting his baseball cap when we go for walks!
He loves watching the cars and trucks drive by our house.
Heather got some flowers planted this week and they look great!
Trigg helps her water them each day!
We love sitting out on the back deck and watching nature.
 Octopus jammies!
One of our favorite books to read is Tickle Monster...and the book has Tickle Monster gloves too!
 Tickle fight!
We also tried green beans this week...
 ...not a favorite
We tried drumming on the hand drums, that was a lot of fun!
...and even more flowers are in bloom in our backyard!  Our pink roses.
 ...and red roses
...and the first day lily flower popped open yesterday!
We been swinging a lot in our swing and chillin outside!
All in all, it's been a great week.  We are trying new things and having lots of fun!

Book Review: Father Fiction by Donald Miller

I just finished reading Father Fiction by Donald Miller and it was a great book.  Like his other books, this book is a memoir of Donald Miller and he shares stories from his life and growing up without a father.
Using stories from his own life, Miller takes about a large problem in our country, kids, specifically boys, growing up without father's.  He addresses the need for men to come along side young men and show them the path to manhood.
Miller also shares stories about how mentors have come into his life and helped him to learn how to better become a man.  Through this book, it seems that Don is address wounds in his heart left by his dad and encouraging the readers to address their own wounds as well as get involved with mentoring the kids around you.
Recently becoming a dad myself, this book was a great encouragement to the role a dad plays in his children's lives.
All in all, this is a great book and I would highly recommend it.  Donald Miller is a great storyteller and that shines through in this book, as his other books I have read.

Week in Review

We had a full week with lots going on!  Trigg turned 7 months this week!
One evening, we went for a stroll and Trigg sat up the whole time...like a big boy!  Checking everything out as we walked!
With the warmer temps this week, our peonies are in full bloom!
Last weekend, we were in Monroe for Grandma-Great's birthday.  Aaron, Nathan, Trigg and I were reading through the animal alphabet.
We have also been enjoying our swing!
We tried a new food this week...butternut squash, it was a big hit!
This weekend, Book Club had another party to DJ!  We were bringing the beats all night for the Flynn Wright summer Christmas party!
We also celebrated Mother's Day this weekend with the best mom ever!  Happy Mother's day babe, we love you!
We had lots of fun this week...and a few tears as Trigg is cutting his first tooth!

7 months!

Huh? What's that you say?
 I don't know...are you sure...
Yeah, yeah you're right! I can't believe it!
 I'm 7 months old!
That's right, Trigg hit the 7 month mark! So we got out the camera and snapped a few pics with his "7" month tie!
After lots of sitting up pictures, we played a little on the floor with our friends...
This wasn't staged, Trigg just grabbed a hold of Mr. G-Raf's hand...so cute!
Oh, wait...who is that over there...reach
Hey Mr. Bear, come play with me...
...and as usual, anything we get a hold of need to be taste tested first!
7 months old, time flies when you are having fun...and we sure are!

Tulip Time!

Heather grew up in Pella and for her Tulip Time is as exciting as Christmas!  We headed there for the Friday evening parade with our friends the Pines.  Didn't stay for the whole parade due to bedtimes, but had a lot of fun and got some good food!
Saturday, we headed back to Pella...this time in full Dutch outfits!  Heather was on the Tulip court when she was a senior in high school and this is their 10 year anniversary, so all the gals were back together!
Trigg was decked out in his outfit and fell asleep in the buggy on our way to line up for the afternoon parade!
Here we are in our Dutch outfits!
Trigg woke up once the parade started and he wanted to see everything!
Trigg and I peeled off of the parade route and worked our way back to sit with our family and Heather was able to walk with her friends!
 Cute Dutch girls!
Trigg was pretty warm in his full costume...so a quick change into his onsie and he was much better!  Enjoying the rest of the parade with Grandma Keri and Great-grandpa Lew!

We had a ton of fun at Tulip Time (as always), saw lots of friends, lots of family, plenty of great food...and Dutch costumes!

Week in Review

Here we are at the end of another week and what a great week it was!  Trigg is becoming more and more vocal, it is fun to hear to "chat"!
Apparently we were doing laundry a little to late on night this week, we put on the clean fitted sheet and Riley quickly hopped into bed and snuggled into clean sheets, we figured she would jump down as we finished making the bed...the opposite happened, she let us make the bed around her and she slept...what a bum!
She is the queen of her domain (the backyard) and she keeps a close watch on the happenings...
We all were hanging out in the backyard this week because we put up a swing for Trigg...and he loves it!  Looking at these pictures, our backyard kind of looks like a jungle!
 More laughs and giggles!
Our flowers are starting to bloom in the backyard, the purple alliums have popped and the white one are getting close...
Our peonies are about ready to open!
We added a new flavor to the line up this week...peas!
Feeling a little crabby...nope, but my jammies are!
Trigg and I had our first 5k together this week, the Klompen Classic, it was a ton of fun!
I can hardly believe that it's May already!  What comes in May...Tulip Time, we are headed there tonight and walking in the parade tomorrow in our dutch outfits, so if you are in Pella, be sure to look for us!

Tip Toe through the Tulips

Yesterday we headed to Pella for the Klompen Classic, a 5k race that kicks off Tulip Time!  It has kind of become a tradition in our house to run the race...and this year, Trigg and I ran it together!
I made the mistake of starting too far in the back, so I was stuck behind a lot of walkers...I accidentally clipped a few heels trying to navigate the crowd.
Coming into the finish line, Trigg and I are both smiling!
Trigg loved the race, he was laughing and chatting as we were running...his noises were better than a horn to let people know we were coming!
We had a ton of fun at the race...bring on Tulip Time!
