Today's band is the....David Crowder Band
These guys have been around for a while and I am a big fan! The reason I am posting them is because they are coming to Lutheran Church of Hope for a concert Saturday, July 18th. Heather and I got our tickets yesterday and we are super excited. They put on a great show and I would say they are one of my favorite bands to see live. I would highly recommend getting tickets and I can't wait for July to get here.

Easter
This past Easter Sunday, both Heather's family and my family got together for Easter lunch. We all gathered at Heather's parents house in Ankeny for great food and great fellowship.

Then Morgan and I found a big red ball, how fun.
...nothing beats a big red ball.
Morgan was really excited to open up her Easter basket, it was full of goodies.
Including some sweet sunglasses...
...and a matching headband!
After lunch Heather was teaching Morgan about accessorizing, first lesson...necklaces.
Christa and Morgan are all smiles.
Heather and her mom are busy putting together dessert.
Everyone loved the dessert...even Morgan!
We had a great time hanging out with both our families. We shared a lot of laughs and a lot of food!

Fun in the Sun...our pics
As mentioned in the prior post regarding our vacation, none of the pictures were any that we took because of an accident involving wind, self-timer and the trunk of our car. Anyway, I got the pictures off our old camera and here they are. Our room was super nice!
...and you can't beat the view!
After a morning by the pool, Heather and I decided to go for a walk around the hotel. This is the front of the hotel.
Here we are by one of the many flower beds.
Our walk turned into a nature walk when we saw this little lizard climbing on the wall.
Here we are with one of many palm trees.
The next day found us by the pool once again, soaking in the sun.
It was a cloudy afternoon, so we snapped a picture of both of us as we headed to an outlet mall, even in Florida, Heather can find the good deals!
Our last morning in Florida, we got a late check out to spend a little more time by the pool.
...and as we were leaving we wanted one more picture. Here is that last picture, an upside down shot of the curb as our camera plunged to its death.
Not to fear, Best Buy was having a sale and we picked up a new camera this weekend, so we are back in business. All in all we had a great time in Florida and got nice tans! We are sad because it hasn't even been a week and already our tans are fading. Oh well, summer is right around the corner!

Music Wednesday
This week's music selection was suggested by my friend Derek, it is Aaron Strumpel.

"Aaron Strumpel grew up in a hundred year old house surrounded by corn in the state of Iowa. It had creaky wooden floors underneath the ratty carpet which covered the fifty year old linoleum that was just about impossible to scrape off. It's walls were made of plaster and lattice and he found old treasures in them as a boy while ripping them down for new drywall.
Strumpel has immersed himself in a new, imaginative project called "Elephants." While he's done the jazz thing, the classical, the folk, the worship, the acoustic, but this new material does something different...Todd Fadel of Agents of Future calls it an "acoustica-electronica-operatic-spokes-troubadour-for-the-mangled-masses that digs deep with a collection of newly-dusted relational relics of primal pomp.” Indeed, the new material is dense, captivating, and in need of verbose explanations. It’s a tremendously bold about-face from his stripped-down earlier works, but the pieces maintain a solid foundation that has allowed Strumpel to let his imaginative legs have room to stretch."
From what I have heard so far, I really like it. Derek, I will admit, even though he went to Wartburg, he is pretty good!

Fun in the sun...Florida
Heather and I just got back last night from 4 days and 3 nights in sunny Orlando, Florida! We got a great deal on flights through Allegiant Air, we got a great deal on a hotel through my parents AAA membership (thanks mom & dad!) and got a great deal on a rental car using our Costco membership. We flew out Saturday evening and got back Tuesday evening. We stayed at the Rosen Shingle Creek. It was fabulous, three pools and lots of sun! 
As we were leaving we wanted to take one more picture, so I set the timer on the camera and set it on the trunk of the car. Pushed the button and ran to stand by Heather in the picture. Both Heather and I were smiling as the wind picked up and knocked our camera right off the back of the car onto the cement. Now the lens won't close and the guy at the camera store said it would be cheaper to buy a new one than to try and fix it. So for now, here are a few pictures of our vacation that I didn't take.

IKEA
This past Saturday, my dad, Heather and I loaded up in my dad's truck and headed up north to IKEA. Our goal - purchase a new kitchen. Heather and I had designed our IKEA kitchen using their kitchen planning software. We headed up there hoping they would have everything in stock. This was my dad's first trip to IKEA, I think Heather and I were more excited than he was. We grabbed our yellow shopping bag and headed right for the kitchen area. 
We had some help putting the finishing touches on our kitchen, then she started putting our order into the system. We walked around the store trying to find some good deals...and sure enough, by the time we made it back to the kitchen area, my dad found a $0.99 shoe horn!
The good news, they had everything in stock, the bad news, we paid for everything! Hence my funny smile as I am looking at our total.
Then we brought the truck around to the loading area, double checked our order to make sure we had all 117 items and packed everything into the back of the truck.
We managed to get everything in and made it back home without any problems. The we unloaded the kitchen into the garage, where it now sits and waits for me to put the pieces together. I feel like a kid at Christmas and I just got a new box of Lego's, I can't wait to get started!
Big THANK YOU goes out to my dad for driving up and back to the twin cities (even bigger Big City) with us and for letting us use your truck, I hope you had as much fun as we did!

Music Wednesday
This weeks band selection is Leeland.
This is a band that I am just starting to find out more about and I am becoming more and more a fan.
From Wikipedia: Leeland is an American Christian rock band from Baytown, Texas. The band was formed in 2004, although lead singer Leeland Mooring had been writing songs beforehand. Leeland is composed of Leeland Mooring (lead vocals, guitar), Jack Mooring (backing vocals, keyboard), Matt Campbell (guitar), Jake Holtz (bass) and Mike Smith (drums). The band's original line-up included Jeremiah Wood, but he left the band in late 2006, and was replaced by guitarist Matt Campbell in late spring of 2007. Leeland has released two studio albums, and has received a Grammy Award nomination and two Dove Award nominations for their debut album Sound of Melodies (2006).[4][5]
