The start of summer is celebrated at our house! First signs that summer is close by is Tulip Time in Pella. Heather grew up in Pella and was on the Tulip Court when she was in high school, so Tulip Time is like homecoming for her and holds a special place in her heart.
Every few years her friends from their time on the court, will get back into their Dutch costumes and walk in the parade...this was one of those years!
All smiles in front of the pretty tulips! Our Dutch girl walking in the parade!
Few more pictures after a wardrobe change
It was a beautiful day in Pella!
Another sure sign of summer is when we open up the pool for the season! This year is was on May 14th! The water was still a little cold yet but the kids didn't care!
One more sign of summer is getting the bikes out and riding around the neighborhood. This year was particularly memorable, Garrett was riding in the front driveway and got stalled out coming over the curb...lost his balance and fell to the ground. He caught himself...and then I heard a loud scream! When he caught himself with his left arm, he ended up breaking his elbow.... ouch!
It was Memorial Day weekend, so we waiting till the next day and headed in for x-ray's.
The staff at Broadlawn's is amazing!!!
They got Garrett fixed up in no time (well, technically it was 6 weeks with the cast, but seriously, they are great)!
And let the summer begin!
