Slumber Party!

Friday night, Nathan came over to our house for a slumber party!  We started the party with some old school Nintendo 64!
Nathan then taught us the "Tootie - ah - ta" dance from his pre-k graduation program!
Saturday morning, we loaded up the car and headed to the Reiman Gardens in Ames to check out the lego exhibit!
Heather and Trigg were excited to find the butterfly built from legos!
Even this sign was built out of legos!
The impressive hummingbird and flower sculpture!
We kept exploring the gardens and found giant lily pads and a koi fish in the pond!
Nathan mowed the grass with the lego mower!
 Full size lego man!
...and what's this!  The Worlds Largest Garden Gnome!
Bison and a calf grazing on the hillside.
With all the searching and exploring of the gardens, we took a break in the chairs to put up our feet!
Back at the butterfly!  The gardens are awesome and the lego sculptures are worth checking out, we would highly recommend a trip to Ames to see it all!
We got back in time to head up to the splash park on opening day of the pool!  With temps in the 90's, it was worth the walk up the street!  Trigg was super excited for his first visit to the pool!
Nathan jumped right into the freezing cold water!
Mr Turtle also enjoyed his time at the pool, although he didn't see much since his head was in Trigg's mouth!
Nathan showed us his trick of sitting on the fountain!
All in all we had a great time at the pool!
We had a great time with Nathan and can't wait for our next sleep over!  Nathan's goal is to have 3 sleepovers this summer, 1 down...2 to go!

Week in Review

Not a lot happening around the Comfort house this week that we took pictures of...although Trigg did get a new shirt...
With beagle puppies that look like Riley!
We also found an old cell phone and Trigg loves chatting (chewing) on the phone
With summer right around the corner...it was time for some flip flops!
Check me out...my first pair of flip flops!
Looking pretty cool in our one piece summer outfit!
We also got a new furnace and air conditioner this week...but I didn't take pictures of those...Nathan comes for a sleep over tonight, so I am sure there will be plenty of more pictures soon!

Week in Review

Another fun spring week for us!  Heather celebrated her first Mother's Day as a mom, Trigg got Heather a new t-shirt and some of her favorite scones from Chef Terrie!
With low temps in the 50's we have had the house open but it has been a little cool some mornings...
Good thing Trigg has some sweet puppy dog slippers, they keep his tootsies nice and warm!
Trigg has been sporting his baseball cap when we go for walks!
He loves watching the cars and trucks drive by our house.
Heather got some flowers planted this week and they look great!
Trigg helps her water them each day!
We love sitting out on the back deck and watching nature.
 Octopus jammies!
One of our favorite books to read is Tickle Monster...and the book has Tickle Monster gloves too!
 Tickle fight!
We also tried green beans this week...
 ...not a favorite
We tried drumming on the hand drums, that was a lot of fun!
...and even more flowers are in bloom in our backyard!  Our pink roses.
 ...and red roses
...and the first day lily flower popped open yesterday!
We been swinging a lot in our swing and chillin outside!
All in all, it's been a great week.  We are trying new things and having lots of fun!

Book Review: Father Fiction by Donald Miller

I just finished reading Father Fiction by Donald Miller and it was a great book.  Like his other books, this book is a memoir of Donald Miller and he shares stories from his life and growing up without a father.
Using stories from his own life, Miller takes about a large problem in our country, kids, specifically boys, growing up without father's.  He addresses the need for men to come along side young men and show them the path to manhood.
Miller also shares stories about how mentors have come into his life and helped him to learn how to better become a man.  Through this book, it seems that Don is address wounds in his heart left by his dad and encouraging the readers to address their own wounds as well as get involved with mentoring the kids around you.
Recently becoming a dad myself, this book was a great encouragement to the role a dad plays in his children's lives.
All in all, this is a great book and I would highly recommend it.  Donald Miller is a great storyteller and that shines through in this book, as his other books I have read.

Week in Review

We had a full week with lots going on!  Trigg turned 7 months this week!
One evening, we went for a stroll and Trigg sat up the whole time...like a big boy!  Checking everything out as we walked!
With the warmer temps this week, our peonies are in full bloom!
Last weekend, we were in Monroe for Grandma-Great's birthday.  Aaron, Nathan, Trigg and I were reading through the animal alphabet.
We have also been enjoying our swing!
We tried a new food this week...butternut squash, it was a big hit!
This weekend, Book Club had another party to DJ!  We were bringing the beats all night for the Flynn Wright summer Christmas party!
We also celebrated Mother's Day this weekend with the best mom ever!  Happy Mother's day babe, we love you!
We had lots of fun this week...and a few tears as Trigg is cutting his first tooth!
