Smallies on the South Skunk

Not wanting to drive the 4 hours north to find trout, Derek and I set our sights closer to home to try and catch some small mouth in the South Skunk river! Before we headed out, I tied up some Clouser Minnows so we could do some streamer fishing for the small jaws!

We both took the day off work and headed to a couple spots with our fly rods in tow!
The water was very low...

But we started swinging some flys and minnow patterns and before long we found a few fish!
D hooked up with a nice small mouth
I found some very small - small mouth
Regardless of the size of fish, I was pretty pumped that I was catching fish on some streamers that I tied myself.
Another "smallie"
We didn't catch anything big, but it was a great day on the river and we found a few fish!

Alpaca Farm

Heather took the kids down to Winterset to check out Rusty Stars Alpaca farm and they had a blast! You can visit for free and check out the alpacas.

These Alpacas are so chill, you can use them as a pillow!

Trigg and Garrett did just that!
B thought they were super soft and fluffy
G may have found a new pet!

It wouldn't be a stop to a farm without checking out a tractor!
Snack time with Garrett
B feeding the alpacas
Group shot!
Checking out their sweet haircuts

This one had nice hair!
Found a friend chillin on the ground

Heather's vest matched this little guys wool!
Snack time!
"Look in my eyes when I'm talking to you!"
"I'm just kidding, have a snack"
G is seeing double!

Feels weird!

The staff is super friendly and explain all about their animals. They had a great time with these animals and made a pit stop in the gift shop and found some Alpaca wool socks to bring home! So fun!
