Nygaard Pentathlon 2008

Yesterday marked the 2008 Nygaard Pentathlon competition.

The Nygaard Pentathlon (NP) presented by the SCRC returns and will take place November 20 at the Valley High School track (& Aspen Active Health Club) from noon ‘til 3:00PM. The namesake, Brian Nygaard, will again serve as honorary grand marshal. Rob Best will coordinate the event. The format:
400m run
Shot put (12 lb. shot)
Standing broad jump
Bench press (115 lbs.)
1500m run

The weights and scores will be adjusted accordingly for the female division.

Important information regarding the competition:
Scoring. You can score more than 200 points in a single event. And you will be awarded points, based as a percentage, for times and distances that fall between the ten point increments on the scoring matrix.
There will be multiple heats of the 400 each consisting of 5-6 runners. The 1500 will be in two heats. Waterfall start for all running events.
Race day registrations are accepted but discouraged.
At the conclusion of each event, the winner plus one random participant will be required to visit the doping controls.
