Buddy Holly

Last night, Heather and I went to the Des Moines Playhouse to see the show Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story. Based on the life story of the late, great Buddy Holly, this musical follows the singer's climb from poverty and obscurity in Texas to fame and forture. Buddy features more than 20 of his greatest hits -- including "Peggy Sue," "That'll Be The Day" and "Rave On" -- and it had the audience dancing in their seats during the climactic Surf Ballroom concert. The show was fantastic and I would highly recommend it, the music was great Billy McGuigan, as Buddy, did an excellent job portraying the rock and roll star.

Good old Rock and Roll!
Again, if you have the chance to go see this show, I would recommend it. The playhouse does a great job and you can tell that the cast really enjoys the rolls they are playing. The Des Moines Register did an interview with Billy, who plays Buddy, click here to read.

A good article in the Register...
Mom and I saw this show when it was first at the Playhouse several years ago, and we're going back to see it at the end of the month. It really is a dynamic production and it's one that sticks out in my mind from all the shows we've seen there. They do a great job with this one...and it's neat that there is a fellow Indianolaian in the cast! See you tomorrow!
