Sunday morning Heather and I headed up to Polk City to cheer on our friend Adam in the Big Creek Triathlon. We got there as everyone was heading to the water start. With the cool evenings the water temperature dropped to 75 degrees which means the athletes could wear wet suits...and apparently face mask goggles, like the guy in the purple cap.
Adam was in the 8:04 wave start with orange caps, here they are heading down to the water.
Adam waves his hands in the air so we can spot him.
...and they are off for a 1500 meter swim.
25 minutes and 25 seconds later Adam came out of the water and up the beach to his bike.
It only took him 60 seconds in transition before he was out and on the bike course!
40k bike ride (24.85 miles) and here is Adam finishing the bike ride in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 12 seconds!
...a quick 38 seconds in the second transition and he is off and running for a 10k (6.2 miles).
We spotted a few other athletes that we know such as...J.J. Bailey as he starts his run.
...and Patrick Riley heads out for the 10k
The 10k route was actually two 5k loops, here comes Adam around the loop the first time.
...Patrick Riley comes around on his first loop.
...and Mark Hollander looping the 5k course.
Patrick Riley running very well heads to the finish line...Nice Job Patrick!
Adam finishing up his 10k heads towards the finish...
...and he crossed the finish line with a run time right at 40 minutes giving him a total finishing time of 2 hours, 12 minutes and 16 seconds.
Nice Job Adam! We had a lot of fun watching and cheering all the athletes.
